The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step – Lao Tzu

Let me begin with the who, why, what and how of this blog.

The who is me. My name is Mark Ekstrom. I am a retired ELCA pastor and a newly certified spiritual director. I live in Omaha, NE with my wife, two cats and a rescue dog.

The why? Several years ago I began a transformative journey with my spiritual director. Although I didn’t know where it would take me, I invited friends and family to join me on that journey. This blog is a way for me to share what I have experienced.

As for the what, this blog now serves a double purpose: to allow me to continue to explore my faith publicly and to serve as a contact point for my own spiritual direction ministry.

This brings me then to the what. My goal is to write a regular Monday blog. Maybe I should say weekly, since I am not always able to publish on Mondays. Additionally, the site will include poems in various states of completion, short stories and other bits of nonsense.
